See, I'm not sexist. I enjoy seeing those ladies cheer their team on. But as I told Leah a while back, I consider them simply 'eye candy".

1. I don't think the "women" or "ladies" did any picking.
2. What happened to your number 2?

Mike, Mike, Mike - what thread are you reading??? gotluv, and I already admitted we're clueless about football, and I think Lisa said "Go Packers" just cause she's from Wisconsin. I may have posted the Cowboys logo last night but that was just to take a jab at jmac.

I do believe that Irene is the ONLY female on here so far to be a big football fan. I know sweetdiggity is a fan, but she hasn't been around much.

Actually you do sound a tiny bit sexist complaining about females liking football and sports in general.

I love roses, and have a lovely coral colored rose bush in my garden so if you want to start a gardening thread here, go for it! We can talk about flowers while they're talking about football.

And, BTW, quit talking about getting kicked off this site. You sound like that guy on Leah's blog who always says the same thing.

If J.P. gave out penalties here, I think I'd have acquired the most by now so don't worry - there are none. That actually might not be a bad system for him to consider putting into place, however.

Feel free to vent, huff & puff over here while Leah's blog is down. We're all here for you.

Fellow Football Hater,

Mrs Doug

I have a garden this year, so I would participate in a garden thread.

Fellow Football Hater,

Mrs Doug

Let me tell ya....I love and I mean LOVE the fact you ladies are participating in this in any form.
Hey if you want to pick a team because their helmets are prettier...FINE WITH ME !!
Or pick out the sexiest QB of the two teams and make your pick !

I love it !!!

You all let some of us post in that Kevin hunk thread thingy and we can do the same.

MRSDOUG, just for you...I will have to try and find them footsie pj's and take a pic just for you.

As far as college football....whoever thinks Steve Spurrier is really sorry he left Florida...raise your hand.

I have one thing to say about college football.

I only watch/care about it in december and january when they play the bowl games. That's only because I buy tickets every year to try to win money.

Won $100 last year!

Jmac, don't get her started. Your remember the sequined jumpsuit.

Since the ladies are allowed in this thread can you fellas explain two things for me: (1) How does one acquire a first down? (2) What exactly is a safety?

The first down question:
Say the Dallas Cowboys get the ball at the twenty yard line.
The requirements to get a first down is 10 yards. So they would have to get to the thirty yard line and then they get a first down.
Say they gain 2 yards.
Then it becomes second down and 8 yards to go to get a first.
Then say they throw for 5 yards.
It becomes third down and 3.
If they fail to get the 3 yards on third down, they must decide whether to punt the ball or go for it. If they go for it and fail....the opposing team gets the ball at that spot.
Teams very seldom go for it on fourth down but rather punt.

The safety:
Tony Romo or Marion Barber gets tackled in other teams endzone results in safety and 2 points for the other team.
This also is a very rare occurence.

I forgot I was in college thread so I used an NFL teams example !
Ashie, any of your family big sooner fans ?

Jmac, thanks for the clarifying that for me. My ma and I aren't really into football, but my brother likes OSU.

west virginia vs east carolina

texas a & m vs new mexico

rice vs memphis

Miami vs fla ...sorry JP, hope i am wrong on this one !

Norfolk State vs Kentucky

The Cincinnati vs Oklahoma game could be interesting. They are an up and coming school (UC) and probably arent ready for this match but I think they will give Oklahoma a game.

Also...it would be quite a feat for East Carolina to pull off two upsets in a row.
Well...UC scored 26 against Okl but still lost by 26.
JP...Miami hung in there for a big part of the game. I was pullin for them.
Wake Forest barely pulled one out.
Notre Dame struggled and ..wait till they play the big boys !
Can you believe East Carolina ?

Personally ....I realize Ohio State will get all the hype playing USC but I think Georgia could take Ohio State easy. I do not understand how everyone always acts like Ohio State is the greatest thing since sliced bread when they do not go out and dominate the way other upper tier teams do.
