I know it is only August, but we always love to plan ahead here. :laughing out loud:

Alright boys and girls, how about this for an idea:

I have been in contact with the Humane Society to see if we will be able to make a donation under the name Leah Remini Guard.
I am currently waiting to hear back from them to find out the best way to go about this.

What I am hoping for is this:

1. Everyone who wants to donate should be able to make out a check or money order to the Humane Society.

2. You can mail your donation to me. We will set a deadline for all donations
to be to me by x date. I will then mail all donations to the Humane Society.

3. If it can be done this way, anyone who files a tax return will be able to claim this as a charitable contribution.

Other things going to Leah for Christmas:

1. An updated final draft of the KoQ ipetition.

2. A copy of the KoQ - Music From The Series Vol.1 cd.

3. A Christmas card.

Let me know what you all think.
Anything you would like to add to the list, by all means, give us your ideas. ;)

Looks better, and it's nice to have the active members' names on it. ;)

well, we all know how busy Leah is and she probabaly rarely has time to check this site. So I was thinking maybe sending her some posts from her "Mailbox" forum:) Not questions [even though that would be cool for us] because we don't want to spoil the gift.. but posts that tell her how much we adore her and stuff.

OK, we have some news my friends!!
This is why we start things early. :laughing out loud:

Finally got a reply to my orginal email:

Hi JP. Sorry this has taken so long, but it finally got to me because I
deal with our celebrity relationships. As long as checks are made out to
the HSUS, you can have them sent separately or bundle them. The best
thing would be to send them to my attention.

That way, I can make sure we know the donations came for Leah.
Also, it would be good for the donors
to let me know whether they prefer not to get more fund-raising mail
from us--just have them stick a post-it note on the check, or write 'no
mail' in the memo portion if they don't want fund-raising mail, and
I'll send that info in when I send in the checks.

I have already received one donation, so it looks like we are good to go on this. We need to come up with a deadline for the donations.
I was thinking December 1st. That way, I can make a final tally of the amount of the donation for the HS and maybe get something special made up to send to Leah with the amount of the donation from the LRG along with the names of the donors.

December 1st is not that far away, so please keep this in mind if you would like to donate. You can always PM me with any questions. Or, just post 'em here. ;)

You can donate whatever you want. ;)

For our younger members who don't work, you might want ask your parents if they would be willing to donate for you. Remember, this is a charitable contribution and is tax deductible.

I am going to extend this outside of the LRG. Asking friends and family if they would be interested in donating. They will be listed as Friends of the LRG when the list of donors is sent to Leah.

If you would like to get your friends and family involved, feel free.

The original plan to donate to the Humane Society is not going so well.

Therefore, I feel we need a Plan B.

Now, I need some imput as to what you all think of this.
It would be the Deluxe version that we would be ordering.
It's only $97.00 + S&H

Here's the fun part. We need to name the star.
This really needs to be wrapped up within the next week (so I can order it), so here is what we'll do.

1) If you would like to donate something to the gift, send me a PM.

2) You can tell me what you think of the idea and give me some ideas on what to name it in this thread.
Examples:

Leah Remini
Leah's Star, etc...

The name can be 35 characters long.
We can then take a vote on it over the weekend.

BLF, do you think you would be able to make it out to Vivian's sometime between the 15th - 22nd of December? I would have to send the package to you, of course.

Um, well, yeah, I'm sure she does make her occasional appearences there.. but out of all the times I've been there... she never is. I've never seen Angelo there yet either.

I've only seen her stepson, Angelo, & her sister Nicole once.

Wanted to update everyone a little bit.

At this point I'm not sure if Leah's main gift will get to her by Christmas or not.

However, I am going to attempt to find a good card for her this weekend and will take a pic and let you all see it. It will be from all of us. ;)

I will mail that along with Leah's copy of the KoQ sdtk. and let her know the rest of her gift will be delivered to Vivian's. My friend of a friend said he would do it. He only lives 2 mins. from Viv's.

I am kind of anxious to see if that new address for Leah actually works for me. :laughing out loud:

I found a great card for Leah today!!

The card is very similar to the one you'll see on the website.
It has motion and music and the song on the web page is the same when you open the actual card.
If you want to see what it looks like in person, you should be able to find it at your local Target store.
There are only about 4 or 5 different styles of the Christmas themed cards from what I could find.

Outside of the card says:

Wishing you peace in your world at Christmas...

Inside says:

...and angels to watch over you always

Merry Christmas

Some of you may remember Leah referred to us as her 'little angels' in
her post on the Sony board (http://boards.sonypictures.com/boards/showthread.php?t=31263). That is what sold me on the card.

There really is no way to write on the card, so I am going to put a little greeting in the letter that is getting sent with this card and the KoQ Sdtk.

Probably something like: Happy Holidays to you and your family from all your fans at LeahReminiGuard.com.

Wanted to update you all on this.
I have decided to wait on Leah's gift until her birthday.
Perhaps trying to do something big for her birthday and Christmas is a bit much.

Now, that "something else" is open to suggestions.

We know Leah is into scrapbooking so I was trying to think of a way for us to put something together. Maybe do some kind of scrapbook of her career thus far? I'm not exactly sure how we would put that together, that's why I'd like some imput. This is just an idea. Comments/suggestions/help welcome. ;)

This is for her b-day so we have approx. 3 months to get it together.

One other thing I would like to include for sure is a package of Famous Amos cookies.
If you go to the Video Lounge (http://www.leahreminiguard.com/video/Video%20Index.html), scroll down towards the bottom and look for: Leah - Backstage Tour

Now, the video is not the greatest quality but Leah mentions loving artificially flavored vanilla wafers, and then says Famous Amos (http://www.famous-amos.com/cgi-bin/brandpages/product.pl?brand=478&company=141).
If you look at the product list for Famous Amos, you'll see there is no listing for vanilla wafers. However, there are Vanilla Creme Sandwich cookies.

May have to try and find out some more info on this.

i believe..(i just watched it again to make sure) that she is talking about vanilla wafer that are like in sticks...and theres like a layer of wafer and then like a vanilla cream and then another layer of wafer and then cream and so on.....its like a kit kat with out the chocolate on top....the box she was holding even looked like the right size of the ones im talking about... here are a few pics

I actually thought about doing this, but it never dawned on me to combine the 2. Great idea, but again, how do we put this thing together?

i just can't figure out how we can all put this together.

I guess I'll have to make trip to Target or something and find a specific brand and size of paper and then everyone could get that. Should be very inexpensive. Definitely likin' the idea if we can get enough people to participate.

I already have a great idea for Leah's gift next year. And if the KoQ bash comes together, that one can at least be left at Viv's. ;)

have you gotten any furthur on the scrapbooking deal?

i know some photo websites that print out scrapbooks, like a real book all binded and stuff, and you put it all together online.

walmart does em for pretty cheap. and i've tried the site before, very cool.

and if you do it online, creat a username so all can log in, everybody can add a page or picture or whatever.
I have not.
Perhaps this would be a gift idea for her Christmas present.

BTW, sweetdiggity and I are working on another last minute birthday idea.
Not going to post anything about it 'til after the big day! ;)

Also, have been thinking about Leah's Christmas gift (if you're new here,
we plan ahead ;) ).
I know Christmas can be a tough finacial time for some, so I came up with something that will cost nothing!

First, I need to know how many of you have or have access to a digital camera or camcorder. Your digital camera would have to have the ability to record a short video and you would need to be able to upload it to your computer from either your camera or camcorder.
If you can do this, post in this thread that you can.

Does anyone see where I'm goin' with this?? :)

Well, it does say, "Leah, no peeking". ;)

Here's the idea I had:

We could all have someone record each of us giving Leah a short Christmas
greeting and maybe make a few personal comments to her.
Like you would do here or on her blog only this would be on a dvd!! :)
1-2 minutes should be fine. Do what ya want within that time frame.

You would have to upload to your computer and save as a wmv/avi file.
You could then upload it to sendspace/yousendit, etc... and send a private message to the person putting all the vids together with the link.
The person putting the vids together does NOT have to be me.
I will be happy to do it, but if someone else has the know how, you can nominate yourself. :)
