“The Class”
Like most CBS’s sitcoms, “The Class,” which debuted on Monday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m., is genial and inoffensive. It also vies for being the least original of the four new CBS shows. Produced by “Friends” co-creator David Crane, “The Class” is more in the young-skewing vein of “How I Met Your Mother” than the more family-focused “The King of Queens” or “Two and a Half Men.”

Its central group of twentysomethings who went to elementary school together are all fairly familiar sitcom types, and Crane and his writers don’t do much to persuade audiences that the series is more than a tweak or two beyond a copycat of “Friends.”

Its ratings reflect that. In week two, it tumbled from a 3.6 rating to a 2.9, a dip of 19 percent and fourth in its timeslot.

Variety is reporting that CBS will swap slots for The Class and How I Met Your Mother, in order to boost The Class. The Class will now air at 8:30pm on Mondays, and Mother will lead-off on Mondays at 8pm.

Okay, so I was wrong. The slot swap did improve ratings for The Class...a little.
It went from 6.0/9 in the overnights last monday up to 6.4/9 last night. :rolleyes:

CBS opened the week on a winning note, with a first-place finish in the overnights, total viewers and adults 18-49 courtesy of two shows in particular - Two and a Half Men and CSI: Miami. Flipping The Class with How I Met Your Mother gave The Class a minor boost and full retention out of its new lead-in, while How I Met Your Mother performed similarly to year-ago 8 p.m. occupant The King of Queens. Let's start with the A's to the most popular Q's:

Has "The King of Queens" been canceled? When it is coming back?

To answer the first question, no, although the upcoming 13-episode ninth season is its last. CBS hasn't announced any return date, so the best estimate I can give you is midseason. Probably January. But here's a little comfort: The 8 p.m. Monday time slot that used to be occupied by Kevin James' comedy isn't faring remarkably better this season with "The Class," which was tanking there, or the sophomore year of "How I Met Your Mother," a show that's attracting slightly fewer viewers.


We'll have to hope that the first sentence is proven to be false. (fingers crossed)
