'Class,' 'King' shutting down :(

By Scott D. Pierce
Deseret Morning News

Sometimes television is just like life. It isn't fair.
CBS made a couple of completely expected, parallel announcements about a couple of sitcoms. Both "The King of Queens" and "The Class" are almost at the end of their respective roads.
In the case of "King," the word that this will indeed be the final season is an announcement that's probably overdue. After nine seasons and 200 episodes, the show had long since run out of fresh ideas. It was a pretty decent sitcom for several years, but nothing lasts forever — particularly not prime-time TV shows.

You've got to hand it to CBS for at least doing right by "The King of Queens." This is a show that was very successful for the network on Mondays but was sent to Wednesdays in an attempt to prop up that night's weak schedule. Not surprisingly, ratings plummeted.
This year, the network renewed the show but didn't put it on the fall schedule. Now it is once again using it to try to get somebody to watch CBS on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
But the Kevin James comedy will return to Mondays at 8:30 p.m. from April 9 until it airs its series finale in May. CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said the move would give the show "a proper send-off in a high-profile time period in the Monday-night block it helped build."

Last season it was on the bubble when CBS made the call to have KOQ
to be a mid season replacement show with 13 episodes ordered. The
decision has already been determined that this is the final season
according to this statment from CBS brass.
