Are there any movies coming out at the theater that you think you may want to watch?

I am not much of a movie-goer. A movie has to really get my attention and make me want to see it before I regret it. A movie that is getting rave reviews is called THE WRESTLER. It stars Mickey Rourke. This guy has had so much plastic surgery (bad surgery mind you) and his career has been on the skids. He has been a joke for the past couple of years but this new movie is supposed to be the comeback for Mickey. There is Oscar talk for his acting. These are the kind of movies that make me want to watch a movie.

I seen John Rambo when it first came out and then another one later in the year. I planned on seeing "Get Smart" but didnt make cause of other duties.
I seen one that looked like it would be pretty good opening Christmas Day but I cant remember the name.
Okay so this wasnt exactly what you asked but I gave you a little extra. :laughing out loud:

Mike renting would be a better idea. I saw it in theaters and was a little disappointed. If it makes you happier you'll see Angie's butt in the movie. I really liked the action scene but I thought the plot was a little weak.

Mike, that is EXACTLY what I have been whining about for at least the past two months! Paul Blart Mall Cop is set in a shopping mall during Christmas shopping season with lots of Christmas props and decorations. It should have been released after Thanksgiving. Watching a Christmas themed movie in January is sort of anti-climatic in my opinion. I'm guessing since the movie is an Adam Sandler production, he didn't want to release it around the holidays because it would compete with his own movie. That's just speculation on my part.

About Jennifer Aniston; I liked her in Friends. She was perky and pretty. But somehow, I have watched a couple of her movies, and I am not impressed. Maybe she just hasn't hit the right one. I haven't seen the latest. It may be just cause I feel sorry for her for Jolie stealing Brad away from her; but I can't even say that. Brad looks more comfortable with Jolie than he did with Jennifer. I do hope she has a better future.

I have to correct myself here. Last night I seen a clip of the 80's movie "Weird Science" which I forgot about.
Kelly Lebrock in her day had the best lips around. She was in several other movies like "The Woman In Red" and "Hard To Kill" etc.

Really? Actually this is one of the movies I was looking forward to seeing. I suppose I could wait until it comes out on DVD. A couple of nights ago I went to a friend's house and we watched "Hamlet 2". All I have to say that was one of the funniest and weirdest movie that I ever saw. I saw Bride Wars with my best friend last night. And I cried a little bit! I laughed too, but I wasn't expecting some tears! So beware. Then we got coffee and talked after and we both ended up crying more. Gosh, I thought it was a fricken comedy!
Overall, it was interesting but I almost thought it needed some suspense or something.

I saw both Gran Torino & Paul Blart Mall Cop over the weekend. Both were great movies. Gran Torino brought tears to my eyes and Mall Cop had me laughing out loud. And both movies were packed.

As most of you know, besides Leah, I am a huge fan of Elvis and Sly Stallone.
Well Sly starts filming a new movie in March which will also star : Jason Statham, Jet Li , Forest Whitaker , Mickey Rourke, Ben Kingsley , Dolph Lundgren. They were in talks with Sandra Bullock but apparently she will not be in it so not sure yet who the lead female will be.

Anyway....This pic was taken of Stallone at a gym on Jan 20th 2009.
The guy is 62 .

Lucia enjoy !!

BTW....yes those are tattoo's !

If you had watched his movies over the years, you would see it is Not fake. It is a result of more time in the gym than most do in a lifetime. As a fan, I have plenty more pics btw.
If you watched movies like Get Carter, Driven, Avenging Angelo from 2001- now, you would know he has kept a sculpted body ! (even into his 60's)
BTW...I would NOT post something as a pic if it was FAKE

AND yes...he is an actor the same as Leah is an actress. ;)

Mike McDonald

Actually, Jmac, Sly is a movie actor, whereas Leah is a TV actress. I just find it hard to accept actors, like Sly or the Duke". who kill several enemy with one bullet. All those bullets flying around and he trances through them like a ballet dancer. It's just hard for me to watch movies make him into a hero every movie.

Since you compared him to Leah. Leah is so real, it's scary. But nothing against Sly, he's made a great name for himself. I think the same of Vin Diesel sp), and others.
Now, understand, I haven't the ability to appreciate male actors, just female actresses. That's just one of my faults, I guess.

I sooooo want to see both of them before the Academy Awards.

Question for ya: Who SHOULD win the Oscar? Mickey one the Golden Globe but Sean won the SAG. From what I hear it could go either way.

Did you find The Wrestler depressing or sad? I really hope this role is the start of more good things to come for Mickey Rourke. He's sure had a tough time of it.

Wow! I want Mickey Rourke to win, bottom line. He is my fave. :D ;) His role was great. A very simple movie, simple story of a wrestler but Mickey put his heart and soul into this movie. Sean Penn...what can I say? He captured Harvey Milk to a tee. Damn! Awesome. The wrestler had a few depressing moments and one especially sad moment. Even though it shows wrestling, this is a movie for both men and women. The ending of the Wrestler was not what I expected but I won't 'reveal in what way. Marisa Tomei was one hot mama. My money is on MICKEY ROURKE!!!

Schwarzenegger to play himself in Stallone film

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Art will imitate life when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger spends a few hours playing himself later this year in a movie by Sylvester Stallone.

Stallone's publicist, Sheryl Main, revealed more details Tuesday of Schwarzenegger's rare big-screen appearance. The governor said he has done just three cameos for friends since becoming governor in 2003.

Shooting on the film, "The Expendables," will begin March 28 in Brazil and move to New Orleans for two months. Main says the governor will shoot his scene in Los Angeles.

His role will be a familiar one: California governor.

Stallone writes, directs and stars in the movie, a film about a group of mercenaries trying to overthrow a South American dictator. It also stars Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke and Forest Whitaker.

I laughed so hard I almost cried at times in the movie. Like when he was hiding in vent and his stomach started growling
I thought this was KJ's best movie by far and like KOQ, it is the kind you can watch over and over again.
Question.....in the early part I think it was before he spots Amy, there is another lady with a child he makes eye contact with and was curious if that was his wife. She sorta resembled her !

Also loved how he used one of my favorite bands growing up, Survivor, for a main song....I CANT HOLD BACK

Yeah, I seen on Survivor page someone commenting on the song and thats how I knew it was in it. I posted a video of the song and original video from the 80's (Tatas:D ), which was really cool in the Music thread a few days ago.

Now here is a video of the song with scenes from MallCop that I found on youtube.

Kudos to Mrs. jmac for spotting Gary Valentine! I totally missed him in that part  , duh!!

Ferrara has guest starred four times on The King of Queens, appearing each time as a different character: Once as an IPS driver (who responds with horror when Doug tells him that Carrie's ovaries are "Shrek-shaped," saying "That's your wife!"), once as a driver for a rival delivery company (who pretends to befriend Doug, first by pulling his truck out of a too-small drive-thru, and then by inviting him to an Neil Diamond concert and telling him that he, too, was overweight [as a child]), once as a gay gentleman tapping his foot in a toilet stall, and once as a waiter at Arthur's wedding in the finale.

Here are some big box office "flops" according to an article I read. Remember this isnt my opinion but out of an article:

Ishtar (1987)
It seemed like a home run on paper: dashing star Warren Beatty teamed with lovable everyman Dustin Hoffman in a film directed by comedy legend Elaine May. A Hope/Crosby-esque road movie for a new generation. But production ran amok, and the budget rose to an estimated $55 million. Unfortunately, the film only made $14 million at the box office. Frankly, the movie isn't that bad. So what happened? The legend goes that David Puttnam, who came onboard as head of Columbia Pictures midway through production, spread negative stories about the film to the press prior to its release because he had personal problems with Beatty and Hoffman.

Wild Wild West (1999)
It seems almost impossible to make Will Smith un-charismatic. Especially, one would think, if you put him in a remake of one of the most entertaining and imaginative TV shows of the '60s, "The Wild Wild West." But the Will Smith we love got lost somewhere amid a bad screenplay, overblown visual effects, and a villain with only a torso (it was, in reality, Kenneth Branagh's talent that got cut off at the waist). Even Kevin Kline and Salma Hayek couldn't help save the train wreck. Although the film cleared more than $200 million worldwide, it reportedly cost $170 million to make -- not a worthwhile profit margin by Tinseltown standards when you add in marketing costs -- and it was a critical disaster. And another movie-franchise dream died in Hollywood.

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Universally considered one of the worst films of all time, "Battlefield Earth" starred John Travolta as a lumbering, Frankenstein-like alien with dreadlocks. Heard enough? It gets worse. Scientologist Travolta's passion project was based on the first half of a novel by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. But it was such a major flop that the planned sequel (which covered the book's second half) was never made. Oh, and the fact that its production company was sued for padding the budget by $31 million and went bankrupt didn't help matters. So even though the $75 million film actually cost only $44 million, its $21 million U.S. box-office tally was still not good news.

The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002)
The outer-space comedy had been in development for about 15 years. That should have been the first warning sign. Then it sat on a shelf for two years after filming was completed. Bad sign #2. The film's star Eddie Murphy seemed to walk through his role, and his performance was painful, the ultimate red flag for a movie flop. The results? The $100 million picture earned a total of about $8.9 million worldwide. In absolute terms, "Pluto Nash" suffered the greatest financial loss of any film ever made. Its embarrassment was otherworldly.

Planet of the Apes (2001)
OK, so it made almost $363 million worldwide (and only cost $100 million), so by Hollywood standards it was technically a success. But to us personally it is one of the greatest mistakes in filmmaking history. We were genuinely excited when we heard our favorite childhood movie was going to be remade by one of our favorite directors, Tim Burton. Let's face it, the only thing better than a monkey movie is a TALKING monkey movie. We ordered our tickets in advance. We got in line for the best seats and excitedly devoured our popcorn before lights out. Then came Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes." It lacked not only the charm of the original but also the charm of every other Tim Burton movie ever made. 20th Century Fox clearly agreed. Despite the film's box-office success, the previously discussed sequel never saw the light of day.

When will stupid people remember that re-makes rarely work? Titanic was an exception because the last Titanic movie made was back in te 50's. It was superb to see the special effects for the 1998 movie. I saw the updated KING KONG and it did not do the original (1933) justice. All those special effects could not save that movie. When I heard PLANET OF THE APES was being re-made, I knew it would be a terrible movie.

You know, a man can be as handsome and fine without a body like Sly's or Lou Ferrigno's. I have never let that be an issue when I was dating. It was brains and personality not to mention a sense of humor that really got my attention. Okay I will admit, a bad kisser would be a major turn-off. I remember I broke up with a guy (when I was 15) because I couldn't stand how he kissed.:rotflmao:
