But I have to mention, I realize most of you wouldn't say anything about it, since we love Leah, BUT, to me, it's worrisome to see her smoking.
The docs have recently told my brother, the main cause of his breathing disorder and heart attack was smoking. I'll probably be dead before she contracts anything deadly from her smoking; but that doesn't mean I'm not concerned for her. I'm not just a fan of her acting and things she represents, but I'm a fan of her life as well.
OK, I've said it, but I won't complicate her life by mentioning it to her personally, but I will pray for an intervention of some kind.

I agree with you, Mike. I'm extremely concerned as well, but I didn't say anything because smoking can be a touchy subject.
It is my hope that she will someday stop because it would kill me if anything bad were to happen to her :(.

Tsk tsk on the smoking, Leah. I know it's no of my business, but it can really kill you!! My best friend in high school's father had two heart attacks and open heart surgery because of the cigarettes. I hope you don't smoke around little Sofia. Second hand is just as bad as the real thing.

i agree with you lucia.. i "quit" twice before this time, this has been the longest i've gone without a cigarette.. working on a month and 2 weeks.. it hasn't been easy, but I'M SO PROUD FOR DOING IT! i never really knew leah smoked, as the only time i've seen her smoking was while playing carrie.. and my favorite ep. "queasy rider".. "i likes to smoke while i eat!" lol

but leah baby, mike said it very well, and we ALL are fans of your life as well. i know its not easy mamas, but you have the best support system in the world -- us :D BUT, you really have to want to quit, getting my body ready for its REAL purpose was good enough for me.

Calm down about somekin. I know its not healthy and she knows as well but it wont kill her if she doesnt over do it. I want her to stop as well but its her decision. We can just hope she smokes just once in a while :)

Kristin, I know you mean well, but I lived around 'smokers' all my life, eventually getting all my loved ones, including a friend to stop. If she just comes out of a store, and has to pop one in; I don't think she smokes, 'just some of the time', and it's just up to the person. And I didn't think about Sofia. OMG, I hope and pray she doesn't smoke in front of her. That's how I contracted asthma. In the military, I was forced to sit in a small office with two smokers. Now I have asthma for life. Leah needs our love, albeit tough love, to stop before there is a health concern. This is something I don't think we can ignore. I have come to love and adore her. She is so talented and beautiful, and a beautiful daughter. She has so much to live 'healthy for'. I know there are smokers here on the LRG. I also offer my wish for y'all to quit.

Very well said Mike - i totally agree with you! I can imagine that it´s hard to stop but if the doctors diagnose lung cancer or something else then the sh!t'll hit the fan. Is that really necessary? I guess not ;) .

I know what you talking about and believe me i want her to be healthy as well. But i just think she is bright enough not to smoke all the time. And i hope i am right with that.
Okay she starts smokin when she comes out of there but we saw a whole lot of pictures and videos when she didnt... so i hope she doesnt do it too often. But dont get me wrong i want her to quit at all. My Dad is a big smoker as well, i hate that. My mum smokes as well but not as much as my dad does. Just to admit i am not a smoker i never even tried. I just dont like all the trouble people are makin about that last time. Like over here you are not allowed to smoke in a resturant , thats a good thing, but in the end its something everyone has to decide for his or herself. I am worried about our dear Leah as well but i think she knows what she does -hope so :)

Yes i agree with you just meant we shouldnt be upset like that about that :) I really hope she is not addicted but i dont really expect her to be...I know what you talking about bein a passsive smoker :rolleyes: like i said before.

Thanks for what you said about my singin may be you can check out in a while i am working to create a new song i sing myself. Just tryin as hard as its possible becaus ei know thats what i want , to sing my own lyrics. I still write for my friend as well :) So keep writin mike ;) We ve gotta keep it up!

Yep, to keep my brain clear, I am careful what meds I take. So far my brain is clear. I just have a problem concentrating. I think that's the ADHD affecting me. I meditate to clear my mind. Immediately after, I try writing. I promised Leah I would write at least 20 minutes a day. You would be surprised how hard that can be.

I didn't mean to make a big thing about Leah's smoking. But my brother is now recuperating from open heart surgery, caused mainly by his many years of smoking; but honestly, also because of bad eating habits and al-co-hol and drugs. It's just that I have this picture in my head of Leah, and smoking isn't in the pic.

Its not a good or healthy habit to have and I'm pretty sure she already knows that and already knows the risks that comes with it and I highly doubt she smokes in front of sofia like someone pointed out earlier.

I know how it is though it's a way of unwinding or a stress reliever, I never smoked cigerettes but I occassionally smoke something that's...well it's something thats techincally legal to smoke at least i think it is Ill just put it that way lol but only every once in a while and when I do its a way I unwind.

As Im getting older now Im slowly fazing out that habit and nowhere close to doing it than I did in my late high school/early college years.


But Like I said I'm pretty sure she is already aware of what can happen and can understand why she might but hope that she doesnt do it alot as we all want her to be healthy.

I don't like to see ANYONE smoking. It is bad for the person and second hand smoke is worse. So weather it is Leah or another person I don't like it. But the reality is, we don't have a say in what Leah does or doesn't do. She is her own person and it is her life. If she wants to smoke then it is her choice. It isn't that I don't care about Leah, but it isn't my life to say what she should or shouldn't be doing. It is Leah's life and I respect that and Leah's choices.

LuvLeah, I respectfully couldn't disagree more.... BECAUSE I love her, I want her to be as healthy as possible. A great uncle of mine had part of his throat cut away because of cancer. Just walk through a cancer ward sometime. I DID! That turned me off to smoking right there. I even saw a lady smoke a cigarette by putting it to the hole in her throat. SHE was hooked.
I know that Leah KNOWS better. But addiction takes over. There's a joke about quitting. A long time smoker tells a friend it's easy to stop smoking, he does it 3 to 4 times a day....
I'm not making light of this. But because I love her, and I want her to be at her daughter's wedding one day (when Sofia marries my grandson :laughing out loud: ),,it IS my business...as a loyal and adoring fan; I've seen what smoking can do to the body. I'm a lot older than you youngins' so I've seen a HECK of a lot more damage due to smoking.
Sometimes a person just needs to know that a person of group of persons is concerned, It may help her make the decision to stop smoking.

I didn't mean for this to go any further than to express my concern. Just read my first post about it. I said I didn't intend to say anything directly to her. I just wanted to see if I was alone in my concern for her....

What shocked me was when Leah wrote on her blog that she never tried pot. I give a TON of credit to anyone that got through the younger years without getting into drugs. Especially being in the Hollywood scene. I'm sure Ms.Leah has a good head on her shoulder if she's made it this far without needing rehab.
Sometimes I argue to people that having a cigarette once in a while could be comparable to eating junk food. Ya know? Both can cause heart problems but in moderation it may not be so bad. Somehow we all can tell someone not to smoke but not to put the greasy burger, fries, and extra large coke down.

Just a thought...but I see respect for both sides of this little "debate" you guys have going on. :cool:

One thing I haven't told y'all was to help my wife when she is out of the hospital was to take classes and become a nurses assistant. So I could draw blood, hook up IV's and such.

During these classes and experience with my family and friends, there is no REAL thing called occasional smoking. If you smoke, when stress hits, you're more probable to light up. My daughter quit for the 9 months she was pregnant, but couldn't refrain from picking up the habit right after. Addiction is just that, addiction. After a while 1 or 2 cigarettes don't do it for you, so you go to 3 or 4 , and so on. In my many years, I've seen this at least a hundred times, I'm not exaggerating. It's a terrible, terrible habit. My mother was one of the smartest people I knew, and she couldn't quit for long. I guess there's a reason they put the warning on the sides of the packs, huh?

I'm sorry for all the bad associations you personally have with smoking Mike. Really...if every person could go through those experiences you have it would be painful for them to see those they care about do it too.

I guess I'm a weird case study. I smoked cigarettes amongst other things for 3 years and gave everything up cold turkey in 2002. I believed that I had the choice and power to stop anything I wanted to and I did. It's defiantly a mentality.
However if I go out and drink like once a month I will have a couple, but that's it. For me I really believe I can control whatever I want to control.
If someone is trying to quit smoking and having a hard time, I can say that your weakest moments will probably be when you drink and when you are around other smokers.

Do you live near any or know of any chinese bootleg shops around your area Mike? Alot of those places carry King of Queens on DVD too. I know one around here close to my house i only paid $10 for season 5. Unforuntately thats the only season they had. I had to buy season 7 and 8 at HMV and paid the $40 but alot of those chinese places seem to carry them all the time and for cheap.

Try the music/movie stores in the mall. They carry alot of used dvds. There's this one, I forgot the name, and they always have a buy one-get one sale and i always see KOQ in the pile.

It's sad but true Lucia. I'm one of the few females on the face of the earth that really does NOT enjoy shopping. :o I find holiday shopping a bit overwhelming because I always want to find the "perfect" gift for each person on my list, and not just "settle" for something. Therefore I often talk myself out of buying stuff if I'm not 100% positive it's the "perfect" gift. I'm going out on Monday with my friend, and she's a great shopper. She always motivates me to make a decision which is what I need. Hopefully I'll get most of my remaining shopping done when I go with her. I guess you could say I was born without a "shopping" gene. :laughing out loud:
