I am sure you have been bombarded with these kind of questions before JP but is it possible to upload pics directly from our computer without having to rely on Photobucket? If a pic is not up to photobucket standards, it gets deleted. Also, it would just be easier to not have to use photobucket, it is just too bothersome at times.

JP
I use photobucket but what i want to know is
I have pics in my album then i post them here
if i delete them in my album do they also get
deleted in the threads or not?
thanks Lucia :)

I think if you delete them, they might get deleted as well on the threads. I don't know. I just know if you upload a pic and the website removes the pic from their site, it is no longer viewable where you posted it.:(

Lucia, I can't think of any reason to delete your pix from Photobucket. I have something like 10 pages on there now, and it's easy to go back and just copy the code if I ever need them again. There's no charge for keeping them on there.

Correcto. When you upload a picture to an image website like Photobucket and delete the picture from there it won't show up on the threads. The link (that is given on Photobucket) tells the browser to look for that particular image. If the image is no longer available due to being deleted, moved or file name changed it'll show a red X.

Will there be honor awards given? I was one for always striving to achieve something in school.;)
BTW, it is not about the education of loading up pics. It is the pure laziness on my part to have to go to photobucket, sign in, pick my folder, go through the pics and then copy and paste the code. I have several folders and I can't remember sometimes where I have a certain pic. If I see a thread and I think of a great pic, I have to look for it on the net, put it in MY PICTURES, then go to photoshop and upload that pic to a folder...Oy vey. I love the ease of just going to MY PICTURES in my computer and uploading. I think Leah would agree with me. A shorter way is best.:D

You really wanna know the difference between Imageshack and Photobucket? Are you ready? One is called Imageshack and the other is called Photobucket. Oh, and I just realized that you misspelled "imageshack". But no worries I'll just take that you were pissed because JP wouldn't allow you to upload your pics directly from your PC to the forum. :laughing out loud:

Differences:
1. With photobucket you have to join to upload pics, with imageshack you don't.
2. At imageshack they will resize for you.
3. You can post thumbnails using imageshack. I don't think you can with photobucket.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Read: Bandwidth in web hosting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth_(computing))
If the total amount of data downloaded from the website in a particular month reaches this limit, the hosting company may shut off further public access to the site.
Now, you wouldn't want that to happen, would you?
Everytime someone looks at a pic or pics you are using up bandwidth.
Same with text, but of course, that is very minimal.
Fortunately, we have never exceeded the monthly limit.
This is why it is hoped that you don't use the pics someone already posted when using the Quote button, unless you feel you need to.
Once in awhile is fine. ;)
Also, this is why thumbnails are so helpful for the big pics.

JP, here's what you have to do to make your Photobucket images into thumbnails:
(1) You'll upload the image into Photobucket (of course you know that)
(2) Click the check box that names your image (will be directly below your image (ie. jpandleah.jpg)
(3) Scroll down a bit and click the button 'Generate HTML and IMG Code' (it will take you to a new page)
(4) You'll copy and paste the code from 'IMG Clickable thumbnails for message boards' into the forum
(5) Voila! You've just made a thumbnail...if you have any trouble just shoot me a PM.
ETA: I think I should be teaching the class for uploading pics next year.

Thank you for all this wonderful info JP. I never knew all that. I am now going to be careful about quoting a post with pictures, WOW! who knew. I certainly would not want to add to the bandwith unless it was absolutely necessary. Thank you Ashie for the above info, I couldn't find that option myself. Maybe this may make it easier for me to want to upload pics.
